CATHERINE DARWEN , EDITOR

Hello and welcome to the inaugural edition of Intelligent Health . tech . I am delighted to be launching this new publication and hope you enjoy this issue as much as I did when putting it together .

Our new magazine will celebrate healthcare across Europe , the Middle East , Africa , APAC , Latin America and North America . The industry is emerging as a future leader in technology and it can be hard for decision-makers to stay on top of it all . Intelligent Health . tech aims to offer guidance to the healthcare community and keep leaders informed with thought leadership , industry expertise and insights into the latest technologies on offer .
The pandemic threw the world into chaos as companies struggled to stay afloat and many scrambled to digitalise . Our first cover story demonstrates the success of being prepared for COVID-19 .
On page 48 , we feature the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust ( GOSH ) in London , England . At the start of 2020 , leaders at GOSH closely monitored the outbreak of COVID-19 , correctly anticipating the oncoming wave . In January 2020 , they implemented Zoom within eight days , deploying Zoom ’ s video-visit capabilities to 5,000 hospital staff and fully integrating the software into the electronic patient record . Eight weeks later , the UK went into its first lockdown and GOSH had moved completely online .
Dr Shankar Sridharan , Consultant Paediatric Cardiologist and Chief Clinical Information Officer at GOSH , tells us more about the implementation and the impacts it has had on the facility and its patients .
However , while our cover story celebrates the benefits of technology , there are downsides too . In recent years , the healthcare sector has had increasing pressure placed upon it , including its systems and technology . Over the pandemic , cybercriminals targeted system vulnerabilities in many institutions , such as hospitals and healthcare centres . This had a massive effect on patient care . Kamal Brar , Vice President and General Manager , Asia Pacific and Japan at Rubrik , provides more insight on page 29 , talking to us about cyberthreats within the sector and how organisations can tackle them .
Our Industry Investigation follows a similar theme to our cover story , analysing if telehealth is here to stay . Telehealth presents a unique opportunity to the healthcare industry – the potential is huge but it is still not being fully utilised . Somesh Chandra , Chief Health Officer – Europe & Latin America and Business
