COLORADO YOUTH GAIN BETTER ACCESS TO BEHAVIOURAL HEALTH SERVICES

Colorado Access , one of the largest public sector health plans in the state , has partnered with local non-profit organisation Kids First Health Care ( Kids First ) to address behavioural health care for this group , integrating it with primary care at schools and ultimately making it more accessible and effective .

AccessCare , the telehealth subsidiary of Colorado Access , utilised its Virtual Care Collaboration and Integration ( VCCI ) programme to partner with Kids First to offer virtual therapy initially in five local school-based health centres but has since expanded to all eight clinics – six school-based health centres and two community clinics . require both physical and mental health treatment , like the case of an eating disorder , especially benefit from this approach .
" This type of support is lifesaving ," said Emily Human , Clinical Initiatives Manager for Kids First Health Care . " The programme helps patients recognise the importance of mental health and aids in reducing the stigma around seeking mental health services ."
This partnership also allows the school-based health centres to coordinate physical health care with behavioural health care . Through the programme , a student first meets with a physical health provider – often after being referred by an academic counsellor or teacher – to identify any physical health needs and discuss needs and options for mental health services . WOMEN IN PINK CAMPAIGN TO RAISE AWARENESS OF BREAST CANCER IN THE UAE

Novartis , one of the world ’ s top pharmaceutical companies , has announced the rollout of its new Women in Pink campaign , which aims to raise awareness of breast cancer for a better quality of life for women across the UAE . The campaign forms part of Novartis ’ ongoing commitment to raise awareness and create solutions across the continuum of breast cancer care , and it encourages women in the UAE to become changemakers in their own health .

" Statista observes that in 2020 alone the UAE reported 1,030 new breast cancer cases among women , while the total number of new cancer cases in the general population currently sits at more than 4,800 ," said Professor Humaid Al Shamsi , President of the Emirates Oncology Society .
" That ’ s why it ’ s vital that we work together to improve public health education and awareness around prevention , early detection , diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer through initiatives such as the Women in Pink campaign ."
It will also empower women by providing them with the information to make the best choices for their treatment plan through partnerships with the Emirates Oncology Society and non-profit organisation , Friends of Cancer Patients .
