Data – and the protection of it – is crucial to any business . However , this also makes it very attractive to cybercriminals . We ask two experts about how organisations can protect themselves when storing data .
“
The importance of data privacy is becoming increasingly evident as we continue to store more and more personal information online . Cybersecurity threats , data breaches and online tracking are just a few of the risks associated with the digital age ,” said Don Boxley , CEO and Co- Founder , DH2i .
“ In the pursuit of safeguarding data , unfortunately , many organisations still face the challenge of utilising outdated technology that was not built to accommodate the way we live and work today .
“ These organisations rely on Virtual Private Networks ( VPNs ) to ensure network access and security , but VPNs ’ inherent vulnerabilities are now being exploited by internal and external bad actors . However , there is a better solution available today that overcomes VPNs ’ inherent weaknesses and vulnerabilities – the Software Defined Perimeter ( SDP ),” added Boxley .
“ SDP is an innovative and dependable networking approach that allows organisations to create a secure Software-Defined Perimeter and establish Zero Trust Network Access ( ZTNA ) tunnels to seamlessly connect all users , IoT devices , applications and servers behind any symmetric Network Address Translation ( NAT ) to any full cone NAT , without requiring network reconfiguration or complicated VPN set up .
“ By implementing SDP , organisations can ensure secure , fast and effortless data and network access , while complying with internal governance and external regulatory mandates .”
Boxley also encouraged individuals and organisations to review their privacy policies , update their security measures and educate themselves about the latest privacy threats and best practices – including replacing outdated technology with efficient and cost-effective solutions instead .
“ In doing so ,” he concluded , “ We are able to take the necessary steps towards a more secure and private digital future .”
Following on from this , we spoke to two other experts from Folio Phonetics and Nyriad . They offered us their thoughts on the storage of data and shared advice for how businesses guarantee their data ’ s safety . . . .
