In relation to connectivity , what were some issues PharmaWatch faced during its early deployments ?
During early deployments , AmericanPharma found that relying on its customers ' Wi- Fi networks created a risk of connectivity issues and data loss . We were spending increasing amounts of time fixing connection issues . If connectivity was interrupted , we would collect the data and send it when communication was restored , but that was not ideal .
To address the problem , AmericanPharma developed an early first-generation cellular system which fixed many of the issues it had experienced with Wi-Fi but , unfortunately , still included inherent limitations . A lack of an agnostic network connectivity capability meant coverage was limited to the Verizon network in the US .
The result was less than 96 % connectivity levels , which given the criticality of the use case was not acceptable . After initial improvements , further efforts to improve performance and reduce issues yielded diminishing returns and required increased resources .
How has PharmaWatch ' s connectivity performance improved since partnering with Eseye ?
Since working with Eseye , AmericanPharma has recorded a staggering 87.5 % improvement in device connectivity uptime . PharmaWatch device estates now operate with greater than 99.6 % connectivity – a mission-critical requirement to ensure medicines , human tissues and embryos are stored and preserved at a low , stable temperature .
Our partnership proved extremely valuable during the Rogers Communication network outage in July 2022 . While wireless connectivity remained active on Rogers , the end-to-end data path was down .
As a result , most IoT devices across a large area of Canada were offline for a full 19 hours . For PharmaWatch , all devices installed with Eseye ' s AnyNet SMARTconnect and AnyNet + eSIM could recover connectivity within 30 to 90 minutes by redirecting traffic over the TELUS network . This resulted in minimum service downtime and disruption for customers : for example , allowing Canadian IVF clinics to ensure embryos were kept safe and protected throughout .
