Greetings and a warm welcome to the latest instalment of Intelligent Health . tech . We trust you have had a rejuvenating month and are eager to delve into another great edition .

For our cover story , I had the pleasure of meeting with Dr Karen DeSalvo at HLTH Europe in Amsterdam . In this interview , I gained insight into what equitable HealthTech means to Google .
“ In the US , new technology is often thought to increase costs , but it doesn ’ t have to . General-purpose AI and technology not built on bespoke hardware can help lower costs by using tools and technology that people already have . Even though wearables may be out of reach for some , there are many sensors on people ’ s phones and most people globally have access to smartphones . We aim to build tools that are compatible with older versions of Android since 3 billion people have access to Android phones , which aren ’ t always the latest version ,” said Dr DeSalvo .

Cutting-edge vision systems , sensors and AI are revolutionising surgery by helping robots assist surgeons with unprecedented precision . This article on page 39 , explores how these technologies enhance surgical navigation and improve patient care , featuring insights from Dan Stoyanov , a leading expert in robotic vision systems and AI-powered surgical platforms at Medtronic .
Inspired by my conversation at HLTH Europe , this month ’ s Editor ’ s Question delves into preventative healthcare technologies on page 25 . To glean valuable insights from experts , I ask : How can we utilise technology to enhance preventive healthcare and what incentives could drive behavioural changes among potential future patients ?
On page 29 , we take a look in a back corner of Cardinal Health ’ s Ohio Valley Distribution Centre ( DC ), which supports its US Medical Products and Distribution ( USMPD ) business , There sits a 4,000-square-foot Innovation Lab , a venue for testing new technologies designed to improve warehouse fulfilment procedures in real working environments .
In this month ’ s Under the Microscope , Andy Coravos , Founder of HumanFirst , recently acquired by ICON , discusses her journey in the industry , sharing insights on leveraging digital health technologies and wearables to manage chronic conditions on page 60 .
